VAFA Inaugurated in Akure, Pledges Healthy Living,Community Development Through Sports

The Veterans All Stars Football Association (VAFA) has been formally inaugurated in Akure, Ondo State, with a commitment to promoting healthy living, social interaction, and community development through sports.


The unveiling and inauguration ceremony took place at Parker Secondary School, Oba-Ile, and attracted sports enthusiasts, community leaders, and stakeholders from across the state.
At the event, Hon. Abayomi Adebayo was inaugurated as the President of the association.

Other executive members inaugurated include Chief Segun David as Vice President, Prince Adeleye Joshua as Secretary, Yemi Orisadare as Financial Secretary, Mr. Akindele as Team Manager, Sunkanmi Folorunso as Public Relations Officer (PRO), and Lucky Benial as Welfare Officer.

Also inaugurated was Mr. Adewale Ologbon as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT).
The association further inducted the Alaaye of Aaye Kingdom in Ifedore Local Government Area, Oba Peter Adeoye Adeleye, and the Branch Controller of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Olumide Aina, among other new members.


Speaking during the inauguration, VAFA President, Hon. Abayomi Adebayo, described the association as a social platform established to encourage regular physical exercise while fostering unity and giving back to society.
According to him, the association is committed to promoting fitness, friendship, and community service through football and other social activities.

“We are a social group that seeks to promote healthy living through regular exercise and physical fitness. We also aim to make meaningful contributions to society and support the development of our communities.
“We have been able to attract partners who share our vision, and we hope more people will join the veterans association in the near future,” he said.


As part of activities marking the inauguration, a friendly football match was played between Veterans All Stars Football Association and Alagbaka All Stars FC.
The entertaining encounter ended 4–3 in favour of VAFA.


Dignitaries at the event included the General Manager of the Ondo State Sports Council, Mrs. Evelyn Lebi; the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students; and the Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Segun Giwa, among other sports stakeholders.

The guests commended the initiative, describing it as a platform capable of fostering unity, promoting healthy lifestyles, and advancing grassroots sports development in Ondo State.
