The Board of the Ondo State Football Association held its meeting under the leadership of the Chairman, Otunba Sunday Dele-Ajayi, with all the board members present, and deliberated on major issues and important matters affecting the development of football in the state and resolved as follows:
1) The Board appreciated Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his continuous and unrelenting efforts to ensure the game of football continues to progress, with support for the football agency, the parent body of Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens.
2) The Board, during the deliberation, pledged their allegiance to the Chairman, Otunba Sunday Dele-Ajayi, and agreed that all must work together to ensure the house is not divided against itself for the greater purpose of football development in the state.
3) The meeting met with the leadership of the Football Agency led by its Chairman, Divine Ogbonnaya, and deliberated on several key issues which includes preparation of the new league season, payment of all outstanding debts, recruitment of qualified players and technical crews. Also agreed to close ranks and work with the agency towards ensuring that both Sunshine Stars FC and Sunshine Queens FC gain promotion to the NPFL and NWFL respectively in the coming season.
I) The Board also deliberated on the recent appointments of some of its board and Congress members into the Technical and Tactical Committees of the agency, with the agreement that necessary things would be done after listening to the Chairman of the agency on the meeting held earlier.
II) The Board also noted that ODSFA must give the State FA recognition by carrying them along in all their football activities.
4) The Board also deliberated on the clash of acronyms of the State Football Agency (ODSFA) and that of the FA, with the agreement to set up a four-man committee from the two bodies to find a lasting solution to the matter.
5) The Board also deliberated on the matter of the Football Coaches Association, with the Interim Committee of the Ondo State Football Coaches Association submitting its bye-law and election guidelines for the oncoming coaches’ election and also tendering a letter of expiry of tenure to the Board.
I) After exhaustive deliberation, the Board appreciated the interim committee for their commitment and restoration of peace in the association. They were also appreciated for the good job in ensuring that the crisis within the association was resolved.
II) The Board also approved the reabsorption of the executive of the Football Coaches Association, with the provison that the suspended Chairperson of the Association, Tayo Onilude, should write a letter of apology to the FA for not obeying the FA’s decision to hand over to the Interim Committee.
III) The election of the Football Coaches Association, under the supervision of the FA Committee, must hold unfailingly in September 2026 and the committee comprises of Hon. Dimeji Abimbola,
Chief Mohammed Abiodun and
Chief Adetoyinbo Ibukun.
