President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has honoured members of Nigeria’s senior women’s football team, the Super Falcons, with national awards and generous gifts in recognition of their triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Each of the 24 players received the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), a three-bedroom apartment in the Renewed Hope Estate, and a cash prize of $100,000.
Members of the team’s technical crew were also rewarded with $50,000 each.
In a separate gesture, the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum announced a ₦10 million reward for each member of the squad and technical team, further applauding their exceptional performance and dedication.
These recognitions come as the nation continues to celebrate the Super Falcons for their historic victory and for bringing pride to the country on the continental stage.
