President Tinubu Sports Festival Commended In Owo As Finalists Emerge Across Events

The ongoing President Bola Tinubu Sports Festival has continued to receive commendations in Owo as qualifiers and finalists emerge across various sporting events.

A basketball coach, Isijola Adeyemi, expressed appreciation to the sponsor and organisers for bringing the competition to the grassroots.

He described the tournament as a life-changing experience, noting that it was his first time leading a team to a competitive grassroots event.

Similarly, Sola Asubiojo, a stakeholder in grassroots football development in Owo, said he had long awaited such an initiative for nearly four years.

He applauded the sponsor, Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his commitment to youth development through the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT).

In the basketball category, Owo Metropol Basketball Team defeated Sports City Hawks with 45–38 points to emerge winners from the Owo zone and will now represent the area in the grand finale in Akure.

In the traditional game of Ayo Olopon held at Oke-Ogun, Abiodun Raji came first, followed by Arowolo Raji in second place and Rasheed Ibrahim in third. All three will represent the zone at the Akure finals.

At the tennis event hosted at Chancery Hotel, Owo, Ileri Demulegun emerged champion, with Davi Ajayi and Shiba Also finishing second and third respectively.

In volleyball, Falana Boys triumphed over All Stars Spikers by three sets to one, securing their spot at the state finals.

Meanwhile, in Monday’s football fixtures, Owomade FC edged past Rebuild Africa FA with a 1–0 victory, while Real Ifon FA defeated Orire FC by two goals to one.
