The Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Sports Festival, organised by Grassroot Movement For Tinubu (GMT) ,has kicked off in Owo zone amidst an atmosphere of excitement and love.
The event, sponsored by the Minister Of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo,on Saturday kicked off in Owo zone and will still take place in four other zones of Ondo State namely; Ikare, Okitipupa, Ondo while the grand finale will be in Akure.
Athletes would be competing in the game of; Boxing, Basketball, Tennis, Table Tennis, Ayo Olopon , volleyball, and football.
In his remarks,the Director General of GMT in Ondo State, Hon. Saka Ogunleye when he visited the venues of the various games, expressed appreciation to the sponsor, saying, “the sports festival marks the beginning of grassroot sports development,talent discovery and cohesion amongst citizens of the state.”
In his contribution,the secretary of GMT Alhaji Rasheed Badmus, said that he could not hide his joy by the large turn out of sports enthusiasts and athletes in the owo zone for the commencement of the sports fest which will last for five days in each zone.
Today’s event included;Ayo olopon( at sadibo oke ogun owo) and Tennis, while tomorrow (Sunday)will feature Table Tennis, Basketball and Volleyball.
