The Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in its commitment and dedication to the development of sports in primary and secondary has approved the introduction and development of Rope Skipping in primary and secondary schools in the State.
Rope Skipping is, and remains the only sport that has given Ondo State a place in the Guinness World Records.
The approval was contained in a letter to the Head Coach of Rope Skipping in Ondo State authorizing him to introduce the sport to schools in the state and appreciating his contribution towards the development of sports in the state.
The Ministry also looks forward to continued support of his ideas in sports development.
Presenting the letter to the Coach on behalf of the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, The Director School Sports, Mr. Jide Fawolu tasked the coach to produce many more Guinness and World record holders to prove to the world that Ondo State is a hub for potential talents in sports.
Responding, the Head Coach of Rope Skipping in Ondo State, Coach Ukandu Chibuisi promised that Ondo State rope skippers will continue to dominate Nigeria and Africa.
He promised to boost the “Rope Skipping in My School Project” to reach every nook and cranny of the state. Also he informed the Director that the Interschool Rope Skipping Championship scheduled for May 2026 will see skippers from many schools in ondo state participating to select the best Three schools to represent Ondo State at the national level.
Rope Skipping as a sport is fast gaining ground across Nigeria.
