Sunshine Stars football club of Ondo state also known as the Owena whales returned to the second stanza of the 2025/26 national league NNL playing goaless draw against Crown FC of Ogbomoso.
The famous soun stadium was the venue of the encounter between the two traditional teams in the southwest with large numbers of spectators who came to watch the game.
Sunshine Stars FC management had earlier rigged the team with the injection of few legs under the tutulage of former super eagles player Duke Udi.
Speaking shortly after the game,newly appointed head coach of Crown FC of Ogbomoso Fatai Osho said his team missed several chances in the first half which cost them the home draw.
Coach Osho who formally coached Akwa United and Enyimba FC,however praised the fans and management of the team for putting up a pre-season camping for the players which he noted shaped them to match up with the energy and passion of Sunshine Stars players.
Reacting, Sunshine Stars FC coach,Duke Udi applouded the two teams for their doggedness describing the game as a highly tactical match based on the high profile of the host coach.
However coach Udi, stated that his mission was to reshape the team for better performance and assured fans at home that Sunshine Stars FC under tutulage will strive to be a better team in the country.
With this game, Sunshine Stars FC occupies the fifth position on the table of the Nigeria national league NNL 2025/26 and will host beyond limit football club of Ikenne Ogun state in their next game at the Akure sports complex.
