Nigeria Humiliate Benin Republic 11-0 In Para Games Opener

Nigeria’s national amputee football team delivered a commanding performance on Friday, overwhelming Benin Republic 11–0 in their opening match of the inaugural West Africa Para Games in Abeokuta.

Playing at the main bowl of the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, the hosts took full control from the outset, netting five goals in the first half before adding six more after the break to complete the rout. Nigeria dominated possession throughout, leaving the Beninese side unable to match their pace, organisation, and precision.

Spectators at the stadium were treated to a lively display, cheering loudly as the Nigerian team showcased their superiority in all departments. Despite a more spirited effort from Benin Republic in the second half, the Nigerians remained relentless, extending their lead with clinical finishing.

Originally scheduled to face Cameroon immediately after the Games’ opening ceremony, Nigeria’s fixture was rescheduled to a match-up against Benin Republic, with the remaining events across 11 sports set to continue from Saturday, 29 November 2025.

The Nigerian amputee team will now meet Cameroon in their next game.
