Lookman scores for Atlético against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semifinal clash

Atletico Madrid delivered a 4-0 win over Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semifinals at the Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain, on Thursday.

Ademola Lookman was among the stars of the night, scoring once and providing an assist as Diego Simeone’s side dominated from start to finish.

The scoring began early when Barcelona defender Eric Garcia inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, giving Atlético a first-minute advantage.

Antoine Griezmann doubled the lead in the 14th minute with a composed finish inside the box after a precise pass.

The third goal came in the 33rd minute when Giuliano Simeone passed to Julian Alvarez, who set up Lookman to net his second goal in two games for Atletico.

Just before halftime, Lookman cemented his impact on the match by setting up Julian Alvarez, who struck with accuracy from the edge of the box in stoppage time to make it 4-0.

He has now been directly involved in four goals in just three appearances for Atlético, including his debut Copa del Rey outing against Real Betis.

Meanwhile, Barcelona struggled to create meaningful opportunities throughout the game.

Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo both tested Atlético goalkeeper Juan Musso but failed to find the net, while multiple corner kicks and set pieces were efficiently dealt with by the Atlético defence.

Atlético continued to press in the second half, with Julian Alvarez and Lookman creating chances and keeping Barcelona on the back foot.

The defeat leaves Barcelona with a mountain to climb in the return leg, while Atlético Madrid look set to progress comfortably to the Copa del Rey final
