Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has described Super Falcons defender, Tosin Dimehin, as a worthy ambassador of the state following Nigeria’s triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
While hosting the player and other members of the team from Ondo State at the Government House in Akure, the governor congratulated the Super Falcons for their resilience, commitment, and patriotism, referring to them as national heroes.
Governor Aiyedatiwa announced a cash reward of ₦30 million and a furnished apartment in Akure for Tosin Dimehin. He also gifted ₦15 million each to Mary Akinsola, the team’s media officer, and Mary Oduboku, secretary the Super Falcons.

The governor praised the trio for making Ondo State proud through their contributions to Nigeria’s continental success.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Henry Omoyofunmi, thanked the governor for his unwavering support for sports development in the state. He pledged to intensify grassroots sports initiatives aimed at empowering the youth.
Also speaking at the event, Chairman of the Ondo State Football Association, Chief Dele Ajayi, assured the governor that the state’s relegated teams would soon return to top-flight football and compete on the continental stage once again.
In her response, Tosin Dimehin, who previously played for Sunshine Queens FC, expressed gratitude to the governor and people of Ondo State for the warm reception. She urged the government to sustain its support for women’s football as a means of inspiring younger generations of female athletes.
Ondo State was represented in the victorious 2025 Super Falcons squad by three indigenes Tosin Dimehin, Mary Akinsola, and Mary Oduboku.
